Zero Waste
One of significant commitment The SSAL LAB holds is to reduce our environmental impact where possible, and are continuously looking to innovate delivering and packaging process. We use recycled and biodegradable materials in our production and aim to minimise waste across our business.
One of the ways we do this is through our ‘Zero Waste: The SSAL LAB’ project, which ensures most of our production generates minimised waste. We have also improved our production process to substitute plastic package with reusable or biodegradable material.
What is Zero Waste?
Zero Waste is a philosophy that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reused or biodegradable. The goal is for no trash to be sent to landfills, incinerators, or the ocean. The process recommended is one similar to the way that resources are reused in nature. The definition adopted by the Zero Waste International Alliance (ZWIA) is:
Zero Waste: The conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse, and recovery of all products, packaging, and materials, without burning them, and without discharges to land, water, or air that threaten the environment or human health.
What we do to achieve zero waste?
We are running the “Zero waste: The SSAL LAB” project by ourselves. Firstly, we use recycled and biodegradable materials for packaging. For instance, the biodegradable plastic bag, recycled box, and re-usable fabric are witnessed in our package.
Secondly, we redesigned our products’ package design. In order to minimise waste, we put a small sticker, made of recycled paper, on the plastic bag instead of large printing. By avoiding printing on plastic bags, we can reduce our own environmental impact.
Thirdly, we offer reusable cups to our staff and encourage them to use the cups instead of the disposable cups.

Last but not least, The SSAL LAB constantly make every effort to maximise the use of recycled and recyclable materials in our production process, as well as minimise packaging waste across our business. We will always continue to support this and keep working to further reduce the environmental impact of other areas of our business.
